UN report on Xstrata Nickel’s Loma Miranda project to be presented in April

The United Nations is currently carrying out a feasibility study on Xstrata Nickel’s controversial Loma Miranda project in the Dominican Republic.

The UN announced that the results of the study would be presented in April 2013.

The conclusions of the study will help the Dominican Republic government decide whether to authorize the nickel project.

The company plans to extract nickel from the Loma Miranda mineral deposit in 2016, if it receives environmental approval.
