Europe says oilsands is dirty and will get special treatment, Canada disagrees
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that EU officials have ruled that oil derived from the oilsands is dirtier. A trade spat between Canada and Europe ensues.
The European Commission, which has executive powers within the EU, agreed Monday to set a higher value for carbon-dioxide emissions from tar sands compared with crude oil extracted from conventional wells

Take a look in europe they are going back to coal for electricity. Europe really needs to
mind it’s own and stay there. The EU has allready done enough damage with their union of
socilest countrys draging us down.

I disagree I worked in the oilsands for close to 30 years and I know the government watched us like a Hawk. But everyone paints the oilsands as dirty. Did anyone ever see any mining operation as clean, oilsands or base metal or gold. All mining operations have some environmental impact but I know for a fact the the oilsands in particular Syncrude went out of their way to minimize any environmental impact. I remember one time we had to delay the start up of a dragline because some crows had built a nest in the mast while it was being commissioned. The oilsands are the growth engine of Canada and even North America. Be careful whar you ask for if you shut it down
