Officer – Investigations, Asset Protection Department (APD).
About The Role
Reporting to the Supervisor – APD Investigations, the APD Investigation Officer is responsible for conducting thorough and technical investigations into theft and criminal conduct incidents within the business, with the objective of protecting company assets and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. The role involves the systematic collection and preservation of evidence, preparation of detailed and accurate investigation reports, and the identification of root causes with recommendations for corrective and preventative actions. The APD Investigation Officer is also required to maintain a high level of awareness and compliance with security, health, safety, and environmental requirements. This position demands strong attention to detail, effective organisational and time management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders as well as external law enforcement and regulatory authorities.
In This Role, You Will
- Conduct investigations on behalf of NPL into offences committed against the company by employees or persons associated with the company and make recommendations to NPL Management.
- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into allegations of theft, assaults and other matters of criminal behaviour.
- Document investigative findings, prepare detailed investigative reports, and present findings to management and other relevant stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Collaborate with internal departments, including Human Resources, Legal, Security, and Compliance, to coordinate investigative efforts, share information, and implement corrective actions or disciplinary measures as appropriate
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity throughout the investigative process, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and protecting the rights and privacy of individuals involved in investigations
- Plan, organise and implement investigative operations directed by the APD Management.
- Management and support on methods to minimize security risk from internal and external theft of company assets and provide comprehensive report and recommendation to APD management and or Police.
- Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & procedures.
About You
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:
- University degree or Grade 12 with experience working in Law Enforcement – Criminal Investigation Division
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience conducting internal investigations, fraud examinations or law enforcement investigations possessing techniques, methodologies, and best practices, including evidence collection, witness interviews and report writing
- Possess fair working knowledge of various PNG Laws and Statute of PNG related to offences committed against the company and its employees
- Proficiency in using investigative tools and technology
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the business
- Establish and maintain a close amicable working relationship with formal PNG Police & Judiciary services
- High level of initiative and ability to work unsupervised.
- Have no criminal conviction and an unquestionable integrity.
Mobilization Requirement
- This position is open to PNG Citizens Only
- Rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage).
- Must Have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
- Possess a PNG valid driver‘s license
- Be physically Fit and be capable of meeting the NPL Fitness for Work standards & requirements
