About Mount Milligan Mine
Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.
Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
Mount Milligan is seeking a Trade, Millwright, who is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems critical to mining operations. Working in a dynamic and safety-focused environment, the Trade, Millwright ensures optimal performance of machinery such as crushers, conveyors, pumps, and mills used in the extraction and processing of gold and copper.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, align, and dismantle heavy industrial equipment such as pumps, conveyors, crushers, and mills.
- Ensure precise alignment using laser tools, dial indicators, and other precision instruments.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance inspections on mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements or replacements.
- Repair and replace defective parts using hand and power tools.
- Conduct field and shop-based repairs on mining and processing equipment.
- Fabricate and modify components to enhance equipment functionality.
- Work closely with other trades (e.g., electricians, welders) and operations teams to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Support production goals by minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring operational readiness.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Write clear and concise reports outlining work performed, issues encountered, and recommendations.
- Adhere to all site safety protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate actively in safety meetings, audits, and hazard assessments.
- Ensure work practices align with environmental standards and sustainability goals.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize maintenance processes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or department heads, supporting broader site operations.
About You
- Completion of technical training in Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) program.
- Journeyperson Millwright Certification (Red Seal preferred).
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Previous experience in a mining, heavy industrial, or remote site environment.
- Proven track record of safe work practices and consistent attendance.
- Experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and assembly drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Adaptability to a variety of working environments (indoor/outdoor, remote, shift work).
Working Conditions
- Camp-based role working 12-hour days on a 7 day on/7 day off rotation with accommodation provided during rotation.
- Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, heavy equipment, noise, and moving parts.
- PPE always required.
- Safety-sensitive environment with zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
- Bus transportation provided from regional locations.
