Responsibilities
- Comply with Barrick’s established health and safety policies, procedures, practices and Occupational Health and Safety Acts.
- Visibly practice safety leadership through leading by example.
- Actively ensure a safe environment for yourself, your peers and local communities through regular communication and due diligence.
- Promptly report and correct unsafe acts and conditions.
- Actively ensure that fatal risks are understood and critical controls are maintained.
- Supervise and direct underground development, drill and blast and haulage crews.
- Assign daily tasks based on the mine plan, ensuring that all activities are completed efficiently.
- Monitor worker performance, provide coaching, and enforce company policies.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to discuss work plans, safety updates, and equipment status.
- Ensure that all mining activities adhere to mine safety regulations, company policies, and local laws.
- Conduct workplace inspections to identify and mitigate hazards such as unstable ground, poor ventilation, and equipment malfunctions.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, or equipment failures and report findings to management.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safety protocols.
- Coordinate drilling, blasting, mucking, and haulage operations to maintain production targets.
- Ensuring proper use of mining equipment, including Jumbo Drills, LHDs, Haul Trucks and IT’s.
- Troubleshoot operational challenges and making real-time decisions to keep production on track.
- Ensure that ground support installation (rock bolts, shotcrete, wire mesh, etc.) is completed as per engineering standards.
- Verify that ventilation, dewatering, and power systems are functioning correctly.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure that all machinery is in working order and address breakdowns promptly.
- Liaise with the mine manager, engineers, and other supervisors to align shift activities with overall mine planning.
- Prepare shift reports detailing production progress, equipment status, safety incidents, and any operational challenges.
- Communicate with incoming shift supervisors to ensure smooth handovers and continuity of operations.
- Lead emergency response efforts in case of accidents, fires, rockfalls, or ventilation failures.
- Make quick, informed decisions to resolve unexpected issues underground.
Qualification Requirements
- Relevant Mining related qualification / certification.
Experience And Skills Requirements
- 5 years’ experience in a similar supervisory role.
- Experience working in the mining industry and an understanding of underground mining operations.
- Commitment to safety, including a commitment to a positive safety culture.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Must be team oriented and possess the ability to develop and foster a team environment.
- Problem Solving, decision making and troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of budgeting and performance management.

About The Team
The Loulo-Gounkoto complex comprises two distinct mining permits, Loulo and Gounkoto, and is situated in western Mali, bordering Senegal and adjacent to the Falémé River.
Société des Mines de Loulo SA (Loulo) owns the Loulo gold mine, and Société des Mines de Gounkoto (Gounkoto) owns the Gounkoto gold mine. Both Loulo and Gounkoto are owned by Barrick (80%), and the State of Mali (20%).
