Your impact
As Technical Writer, you will play a critical role in enabling safe, efficient, and compliant mining operations by developing, maintaining, and standardising high-quality operational documentation. Working closely with Mining Operations, Planning & Scheduling, and Autonomous Haulage (AHS) teams, you will ensure procedures, reference guides, and training materials are accurate, current, and accessible- supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement across the site.
As part of our team you will
- Review, edit, and standardise Mining Operations SOPs, QRGs, and procedural documents to ensure consistency and alignment with site and company standards.
- Partner with Mining Operations stakeholders to coordinate document reviews, updates, approvals, and version control.
- Maintain document control systems, ensuring records are accurately stored, archived, and easily accessible.
- Provide document drafting, formatting, and quality assurance support across Mining and AHS functions.
- Administer Mining Operations SharePoint sites and Microsoft Teams channels to support effective communication and information sharing.
- Support training administration by maintaining training matrices, tracking competencies, and managing training records and reports.
- Assist with onboarding new starters through the development of training packs, updated checklists, and progress tracking.
- Prepare operational and training presentations, including weekly Return to Work (RTW) materials for AHS crews.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve documentation, workflows, and work practices.
- Provide ad-hoc administrative and documentation support as required by the Supervisor Planning & Scheduling.
Prerequisites for your success in the role
- Experience in document control, technical writing, or document management within a mining, construction, or industrial environment.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a mining, construction, or multi-disciplinary services environment.
- Exposure to Learning Management Systems (LMS), including LAAMP, within an operational environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage with mining and technical stakeholders using operational terminology.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple documents, priorities, and stakeholders effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.
- A collaborative, approachable working style suited to a multi-disciplinary site environment.
- High standards of work performance, accuracy, and professional conduct.
Your work environment
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity at Newmont’s Boddington Gold Mine in Western Australia, working within a large-scale open pit operation on an 5/2, 4/3 roster. Village accommodation is available for eligible candidates.
You’ll join a supportive, site-based Mining Operations, Planning & Scheduling, and AHS teams in a large-scale open pit mining environment, contributing to Newmont’s commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
