From clue to gold: Alberta duo finds hidden prize near Squamish
Gold may dominate headlines for its price, but in southern British Columbia it recently became the reward for sharp research and family teamwork. Jeff and Jeannie Buckles, a retired geotechnical engineer and a former occupational health nurse with decades of mining experience between them, are the latest regional winners in The Great Canadian Treasure Hunt.
After analyzing the newly released southern BC clue, the Alberta-based couple flew to Squamish and zeroed in on a lookout near the Britannia Mine Museum, where they uncovered the hidden gold in under an hour. Their win adds momentum to a growing chain of discoveries across Canada since the hunt launched last year — and keeps anticipation building toward the still-unclaimed grand prize.
