Mining Metrics: Volatility is here to stay in metals markets – Tradu analyst

It’s been a week of whiplash for commodities. Gold is holding near record highs as traders double down on bets that the Federal Reserve will cut rates in September, while copper’s outlook is being reshaped by clean tech, AI and defense demand.

At the same time, Washington has unveiled nearly $1 billion in funding to bolster critical minerals, even as imports remain unavoidable. MINING.com’s host Devan Murugan sat down with Tradu’s senior market analyst Nikos Tzabouras to unpack what’s driving metals markets — and whether investors may be running ahead of reality.
