I was involved in a mine collapse on my first day at work..Mine up as called “Goldmine Creek” on the Clohesy gold field…I put my hands on the ladder to go underground..Ron puts his hand on my shoulder..”Brew first”..handing me the traditional tin mug..handful of tea leaves..some condens d milk just how I like it..We sat down..fifteen feet away..by the office. Tin shed that is..Suddenly on my first sip..the mine exploded ejecting mine timbers dirt dust gold hundreds of feet in the air..it landed back down!??!..No mine no more..only the top two feet of the ladder rails now flush with the ground..Shocked I looked it up..the Mines department said it happened in the early nineteen hundreds..no record for when it really happened..1975..saved..only just..very lucky..I listen to old miners ever since..bushmanjake…
