Chile’s state-run miner Enami said on Thursday it is selling more than 400,000 metric tons of gold ore from its stocks, with medium grades ranging from three to four grams per ton.

The sale aims to “optimize the value of its inventories,” Enami vice-president Ivan Mlynarz said in a statement. Prices for the safe haven commodity have surged in the past year but have recently edged lower on the back of a strong US dollar.
