Macquarie (ASX: MGQ) said on Thursday it has appointed Peter Taylor as head of commodity desk strategy effective November 1, replacing Marcus Garvey who recently left the Australian-based financial services company.

Taylor will lead a team of 11 commodity strategists in locations including Houston, London, Shanghai and Singapore while continuing to head the company’s Geneva office.

Before joining Macquarie in 2014, Taylor was at UK-based Barclays in London and Singapore. He will report to Daniel Vizel and Erik Petersson, global co-heads of commodities.

Garvey left the bank earlier in October and will be joining hedge fund Millennium, according to industry sources. He did not respond to a request for comment via LinkedIn.
