This is how GroundTruth’s drones to drills program works

GroundTruth Exploration, a contracting company that has been working in Dawson City, Yukon, for over a decade, recently launched an initiative called drones to drills.

On the above video, the company’s spokesperson, Shawn Ryan, explains how the technology reduces the environmental footprint, as well as the human resources needed, during the mineral exploration and development stages of a mining project.

“We train our tech guys to do multiple jobs, so our soil guys can do IP or vice versa; our geo types could run the XRF and the downhole televiewers, so we are training our guys to actually run multiple tasks and by doing it this way we are eliminating bodies in the bush because we only need so many guys now,” Ryan said about the amount of staff.

In terms of the successes of the program, GroundTruth’s spokesman said his work led to the discovery of Goldcorp’s (NYSE:GG,TSX:G) 520-million Coffee project, which is expected to produce about 200,000 ounces of gold per year for about 10 years.
