New modular technology delivers affordable asset tracking

Modular Mining Systems, Inc., a market leader in information management solutions for mining operations worldwide, announces the launch of an affordable solution to track and manage assets: the DISPATCH® AssetAlert™ module. The new module for surface mines will be unveiled at EXPOSIBRAM 2011, the largest mining show in Brazil, on September 26^th.

AssetAlert utilizes low-cost, low-maintenance hardware, within a self-healing wireless mesh network, to communicate asset data to the DISPATCH fleet management system’s central server. The hardware is comprised of a small, rugged device called the LASSO™. The LASSO is equipped with on-board GPS, analog input, two digital inputs and outputs, and digital accelerometer.

The LASSO attaches to any asset, mobile or fixed, and relays critical information such as: location, movement and speed, status (e.g. on/off, fuel level, temperature), or abnormal driving conditions. Mines can use LASSOs across the site to locate missing equipment, optimize equipment use, track vehicle movement to prevent theft, receive alerts when user-configurable thresholds are exceeded, and more.
