Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed employees for the positions of Security Operations Officer to join the versatile Security department. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Security Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing support to the site security program, focusing on operations direction and support, site loss prevention, manned guarding management and other activities as directed by the Lumwana Security Manager.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure positive and effective implementation of Barrick Security policies and procedures inclusive of the company’s commitment to the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.
- Ensure compliance with overarching statutory requirements and adherence to international norms
- Establish, implement and ensure effective utilization of Security systems.
- Ensure positive and effective implementation of Barrack’s OH&S policy and procedures and overarching statutory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Barrick’s environmental and social policies and procedures and overarching statutory requirements.
- Arrange shift patterns ensuring all Security Contractor guards posts are manned 24 hours a day and erring guards are disciplined by their supervisors.
- Maintain the high standard of discipline expected from the Security department.
- Provide leadership and support to ensure that Security Employees and Security Contractor comply with industry best practice and legislative requirements.
- Ensure that all the Companies facilities on the mine lease and the facility occupants are adequately protected against harm and loss twenty-four hours a day 365 day a year.
- Ensure that the physical facility protection programs of the site Security Department are effectively and efficiently, supervised and monitored.
- Maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness. Promote and comply with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
- Any other duties which may from time to time be assigned by the LMC Security Manager/ Security Operations Superintendent.
- Provide support to other LMC departments requesting the use of the boats.
- Patrolling the entire LMC site including water bodies, i.e. WSF and TSF.
- Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness. Promote and comply with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
- Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
- Minimum Certificate in security related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in security and investigations
- Previous Experience in mining/industrial site environment (would be an added advantage)
- Zambian Police or Military experience preferred.
- Holder of a valid Zambian driver’s license.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
