Job Description
Reporting to the Process Operations Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance withrelevant Environmental Management Systems (EMS), Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards,statutory requirements, and internal policies. This role also supports documentation control, isolationprocedures, and continuous improvement initiatives in line with ISO standards (ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018).
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensuring compliance with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
- Monitoring adherence to EMS and OHS procedures and legal requirements.
- Participating in environmental and safety audits, inspections, and assessments.
- Conducting risk assessments and assist in developing and implementing mitigation plans.
- Monitoring environmental & Safety KPIs and coordinating the submission of regulatory reports.
- Overseeing and verify proper implementation of isolation and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Maintaining compliance with plant energy isolation standards.
- Providing support during major shutdowns and critical isolations.
- Ensuring that Permit to Work (PTW) procedures are correctly followed and documented.
- Managing compliance documentation, including EMS/OHS procedures, risk registers, MSDS, incident
logs, and audit records.
- Ensuring controlled document distribution, version control, and archiving in line with company and
ISO requirements.
- Facilitating internal and external audits by ensuring document readiness and traceability.
- Supporting the development and delivery of EMS/OHS awareness training programs.
- Conduct inductions and refresher training on isolations, PTW, and compliance protocols.
- Promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the Process Plant.
- Identifying compliance gaps and propose corrective/preventive actions.
- Monitoring progress on closure of audit findings and compliance issues.
- Supporting root cause investigations and implementation of lessons learned.
- Preparing compliance reports for internal and regulatory stakeholders.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience in a similar role within a mining or processing environment.
- ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 internal auditor certification preferred.
- Familiarity with Zambian environmental and mining safety legislation.
- Experience with document control systems and permit-to-work systems.
- Proficient in MS Office and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
