About the Job:
The Metallurgical Technician will be a full-time position and is responsible for sample preparation and processing of ore samples. Daily responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to; complete knowledge of all equipment used in processing and reporting of metallurgical testing. Will work as a team and/or independently to complete tasks assigned by Metallurgist and Laboratory Coordinator.
This position will be a 40-hour work schedule and will be based at the Coeur Rochester Mine Site.
Responsibilities:
- Performs basic sample receiving and preparation of all samples delivered to the laboratory.
- Performs wet lab analysis and reporting for all incoming samples.
- Performs multi-element AA analysis and Leco analysis.
- Performs sample preparation and fire assay of solid samples for gold and silver analysis.
- Prepare and handle reagents and samples in accordance with established protocols and safety standards
- Understands calculations associated with assay reporting.
- Willing to work in variable weather conditions.
- Willing to work split or variable shift schedules.
- Willing to work overtime when required.
- Perform accurate, precise work in a timely manner.
- Adheres to the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management guidelines as defined by the environmental department for the area of responsibility.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
- Perform QA/QC procedures on all required processes, including sample crushing and pulverizing.
- Identify hazards and record them on the Intelex platform.
- Support the assay laboratory as needed it.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks to the required standards with minimal supervision.
- Performs basic elements of mathematics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and simple algebra.
- Understands and is able to perform fundamental record keeping.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management and employees, both written and orally.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- Ability to lift and move 50 lbs., work outside in all kinds of weather, in confined spaces, and at all heights.
Additional Information:
- Hourly Rate Range: $27.33 – $38.70 (DOE)
- Rotating Shifts: 5 Days On, 4 Days Off / 4 Days On, 5 Days Off (12-hour shifts)
- Quarterly bonus up to $4,100 (up to $16,400 annually)
