About the Job:
We are seeking a Project Engineer for our Rochester operation near Lovelock, NV. This position will report to the Mine Engineering Superintendent. The successful candidate will be expected to design, lead, and support project activities at the mine site. This position will require company-supported relocation to Northern Nevada to work a 4-day on, 3-day off schedule on-site at Coeur Rochester near Lovelock, NV.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe, healthy and clean environment by ensuring Coeur’s values and standards are present in all aspects of work execution
- Incorporate a safety and environmental mindset in all tasks performed thus reducing risk in designs and plans
- Prepare planning level and final designs for utilities, haul roads, leach pads, waste rock dumps and miscellaneous ancillary designs (i.e. light vehicle roads, crane access roads, etc.)
- Lead weekly leach pad planning meeting
- Prepare, facilitate and track dig permits
- Manage underground utility CAD drawing file to ensure utility data is relevant and current
- Assist in development of and ensure adherence to ground support standards
- Assist the Environmental/Permitting group in obtaining required permits to prevent delays in project execution: construction, commissioning, and final handover to the mine
- Collect and analyze data and prepare reports and technical documents
- Assist in the upkeep and troubleshooting of mine technologies (i.e. Edge, Terrain, MineStar, etc.)
- Maintain open communication and coordination with Mine Supervisors and Technical Services personnel to ensure that designs are being implemented in the field as intended
- Receive and communicate messages and information to and from mine employees and supervisors
- Perform other duties as required
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- BS in Mine Engineering or related engineering discipline
- 3 – 5 years of experience of open pit, hard rock mining preferred
- Prior experience in production and/or short-range mine planning preferred
- Proficiency in Deswik and AutoCAD software is required
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
- Excellent troubleshooting, organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team effort as well as individually
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure work environment
