Escape room fans crack Argentia clues and strike gold

Two sisters from southern Ontario have just accomplished what most treasure hunters only imagine: finding real gold. Stefanie St. Denis and her sister Jennifer Crichton, longtime Northern Miner subscribers and escape-room enthusiasts, cracked the Argentia clues, booked a spontaneous flight to Newfoundland, and returned home with six one-ounce coins worth more than C$37,000 — the latest bonus prize claimed in The Northern Miner’s Great Canadian Treasure Hunt.

The Northern Miner’s Devan Murugan spoke with the sisters about how the win came together — from the moment the clues clicked, to the decision to drop everything and go, to the feeling of flying home with gold in 2026 — all while the C$1.3 million grand prize remains unclaimed.
