Chasing the carat: Canada’s Queen of Diamonds comes full-circle — part 1 focused on Eira Thomas’s journey through the world of mining, beginning with her discovery of the Diavik kimberlite pipes as an Aber geologist and including the Stornoway Diamonds takeover of Ashton Mining and its Renard diamond project in Quebec.
Part 2 picks up the story after the takeover, when several key Ashton executives and employees moved on to Peregrine Diamonds. Eric Friedland runs Baffin Island-focused Peregrine and his famous older brother, Robert Friedland, has joined his diamond hunt.
