Vale expects to resume operations at Fabrica, Viga mines in few weeks

Brazilian miner Vale expects to resume operations at its Fabrica and Viga mines, both in Minas Gerais state, in the next few weeks, the firm’s chief financial officer said on Wednesday.

Despite the delay in resuming operations at the mines, Vale CFO Marcelo Bacci told a news conference that the company does not forecast it would have any significant impact on its iron ore output guidance for this year.

Vale sees its 2026 iron ore production between 335 million and 345 million metric tons. Operations at Fabrica and Viga were halted in January after a water overflow caused environmental damage.
