INFOGRAPHIC: Mining sector has second largest gender pay gap
The mining sector in Australia has the second largest pay gap for male versus female, according to McCrindle Research.
The researcher noted that the gap in workforce participation is narrowing, but a wage gap persists due to the types of work into which females are hired.
“However, over the same time period, the pay gap between males and females has grown, largely due to the rising salaries in the industries and careers that are mostly male dominated, compared to the female dominated areas.”
The largest wage gap was in the construction industry.
