The Metals Royalty debuts on Nasdaq with deep-sea bet
The Metals Royalty Company Inc. began trading on the Nasdaq on Wednesday under the ticker TMCR, marking the public debut of a financing model tied to deep-sea mining.
The company holds a royalty on the NORI project in the Pacific Ocean, operated by TMC (NASDAQ: TMCWW). It targets polymetallic nodules rich in nickel, cobalt and copper as demand for battery metals accelerates.
Chief executive officer Brian Paes-Braga spoke with MINING.COM’s Devan Murugan about how the royalty model translates offshore — and whether it can deliver returns in a sector still defining its path to production.
