Greenland’s actions ‘amount to direct expropriation’, says Energy Transition Minerals MD
Energy Transition Minerals has warned that Greenland’s decision to block its Kvanefjeld project “amounts to creeping expropriation,” as the dispute heads to court.
In this interview, managing director Daniel Mamadou sets out the company’s legal case, arguing that existing mining regulations granted it the right to develop the project before a 2021 uranium ban intervened.
The standoff has put one of the world’s largest undeveloped rare earth deposits in doubt, raising broader concerns about regulatory risk in critical minerals. Kvanefjeld had been seen as a potential cornerstone of Western supply, but strong local opposition and shifting policy in Greenland continue to cloud its future.
