IGO flags impairment on lithium hydroxide division
The miner cited a decline in value of its troubled Kwinana refinery, which is grappling with production delays and a lithium price slump.
Bolivian state lithium miner YLB has named Omar Alarcon the firm’s new chief executive, state news channel Television Boliviana said on Monday, replacing predecessor Karla Calderon.
An official at the country’s energy ministry said the change was due to an internal adjustment.
Bolivia does not produce commercial quantities of lithium, a key battery metal used to power electric vehicles, but the US Geological Survey estimates it holds 23 million tons – the most resources of any country worldwide.
