Indonesia, Freeport units sign MoU to extend mining permit beyond 2041
Indonesia’s investment minister and miners Freeport-McMoran and its Indonesia unit Freeport Indonesia have signed a memorandum of understanding to extend Freeport Indonesia’s mining permit beyond 2041, Freeport-McMoran chairman Richard Adkerson said.
Adkerson was speaking at a US Chamber of Commerce event in Washington on Wednesday evening that was attended by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
Prabowo has travelled to Washington for a meeting of US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, and to seek a lower tariff rate in a trade deal with the United States.
“We would like the best of relationships with the United States in all spheres – politically, economically,” Prabowo said in a speech at the Chamber of Commerce event.
