Kootenay Silver halts work at Mexico project after miner goes missing in accident
Kootenay Silver (TSX-V:KTN) said on Friday a contract miner was involved in an accident at its Columba silver project in Mexico and has not yet been located by the rescue team.
The company has temporarily stopped all exploration activities at the project while the investigation is ongoing.
The accident occurred on Thursday in the F Vein shaft at the Columba project. Kootenay did not provide further details on the nature of the accident. The company said authorities had been notified and an investigation into the incident was under way.
“Safety is always of paramount importance, and we must do everything we can to prevent accidents of any severity now and in the future,” the Canada-listed silver explorer said in a statement.
